Over the past few years I have been slowly turning my shoe closet around. No, I don’t actually have a shoe closet. I just mean that I’ve been trying to save up and buy more comfortable and higher quality shoes. And when I replace my shoes, I want to keep quality in mind, too. Something I have learned during all of this is quality doesn’t have to be brand name and doesn’t have to be super pricey. You can find great, long lasting shoes if you are willing to look and willing to wait.
When I want a new pair of shoes, I create a list of characteristics I want including color, heel height, toe shape, etc. to help me decide. Quality fabric is extremely important to me as that often equates to comfort. I almost always go for suede or leather because it stretches and forms to your foot.

When I needed a new pair of leopard flats, I had my eye on a $100 pair. But after some searching, I found these at DSW. They are calf hair leather and were less than half the price! After about a week of waiting, DSW even had a sale and I was able to get an additional $10 off. I always elect to receive emails from stores I frequent so I know when their sales are. It’s key to getting quality shoes for less. And if there are rewards programs that helps, too. These ended up having really nice padding that none of the other shoes I saw had. It really goes to show sometimes quality and comfort actually costs less.
